Tooth Colored Fillings

The days of old silver fillings are behind us. Amalgam (silver) fillings statistically last only 8 to 15 years. After that time, most teeth filled with these silver fillings start to weaken, crack, and eventually fracture which may require a crown and possibly a root canal as well. To avoid this it is advised that old failing silver fillings be replaced with bonded composite or possibly porcelain.

The state-of-the-art composites used actually strengthen the tooth and significantly reduce the risk of tooth fracture in the future.
